The role centers on VentureBeat’s five monthly surveys of people inside large companies who build and buy AI, covering agent orchestration, agent reliability and evaluation, agent security and identity management, AI infrastructure and compute, and the context layer and retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG. Marshall said the data is proprietary and that reporters in the role would see it before anyone outside the companies involved. According to the post, the job involves identifying findings that have not yet been reported, checking them with three to four people trusted by readers, and then publishing what those findings mean. The reporter would also interview Fortune 100 CIOs and AI platform leaders, create charts, and help shape future story ideas. Applicants are expected to have at least five years of technology reporting experience and clips that show original reporting. Marshall said the position is not a daily news job and not one built around rewriting announcements. The Bay Area is preferred, with New York listed second.20
